Established to provide the highest quality of residential care for children and young people, New Horizons (NW) Ltd was formed by a group of professionals working both within and outside of the care sector who shared a goal of supporting positive outcomes to some of the most vulnerable people within the “Child Looked After” system.

“Delivering a high-quality care service requires high quality staff training,” said Hayley Thistlethwaite, Office Manager at New Horizons.

Fortunately, Hayley had already experienced high quality training during her previous employment, which was delivered by the Skills Shop team.

“We are always looking for providers who have experience within residential care and will connect any training to what we do. Skills Shop have taken this on board and deliver the training to a high standard.”

Skills Shop have delivered training in First Aid and Health & Safety in the Workplace for New Horizons staff.

Hayley was very satisfied with the training.

“Skills Shop are extremely organised, very flexible in arranging dates and will go above and beyond to support with the needs of our business. They have a great understanding of what we do and help us in any areas that require additional training needs. Their trainer Phil Wilson delivers our First Aid and is a fantastic teacher. We always receive glowing reports from our staff team when they have attended these sessions. My own knowledge and personal progression have also benefited from the great Health & Safety Training that is delivered and Skills Shop owner Phil Newton has always made time for me to ask questions and discuss any areas where I have been unsure.”

Hayley summarised: “Skills Shop is a great company and a pleasure to work with, I would highly recommend to any other care provider.”
